St. Charles ENG 096 Students: Comparison and Contrast Paper Assignment

For this essay, you will compare two or more services, products, or ideas to make a point about their similarities and differences. For example, you could compare your personality to a sibling’s or two apartments you are thinking about renting. If you are into comics, you might compare Superman vs. Batman. Find a topic that interests you to use for the comparison.

Your paper should have the following:

An introduction technique
A thesis that clearly states the overall point of your comparison
Clear criteria
Evidence to support your judgments
Clear judgments about each category
Use of all criteria on the objects/services you are examining
A conclusion technique
Clear Organization: Block or point by point
Correct grammar, punctuation, word choice and spelling
Clear, easily read sentences
Transition words and phrases

The paper should be 3 to 4 pages long. Turn it in using a two-pocket folder, and include at least one rough draft besides the final version and your peer review comments. Put your name on the front of the folder. Use Times New Roman 12 pt font for the essay.
